Design & measurement guide

To get the perfect curtains for your space

Curtains for window only

Step 1: Measure the width of the window frame - including the frame.

Step 2: Measure the length from floor to ceiling (if you’ve already attached a rail or rod, measure from where the curtain will be attached.) If you’d like the curtain to only be the length of the window, measure the length of the window frame.

Curtains for window and wall or wall only

Step 1: Measure the width of the full wall.

Step 2: Measure the length from floor to ceiling (if you’ve already attached a rail or rod, measure from where the curtain will be attached.)

I make the technical curtain math, so the most important part is getting the length very precise. There is always added extra fabric in the width for a nice wavy effect, so don’t worry if the width is not completely accurate.

Floating or draping curtains?

Think about wether you want your curtains to hang just above the floor for a floating, airy look (around 1-2 cm above the floor).

Or if you want them to touch the floor for a more dramatic and soft look (around 5-8 cm will drape on the floor).

You will be asked to choose this when you order.

My personal preference is draping curtains, but consider the functionality in your space. If your wall/window is not completely straight and vary a few cm, I suggest draping curtains to hide the difference.

Advice

The colour of the curtains will fade over time. If you want to slow down the fading, I suggest you get curtains for the full wall, or at least add 50 cm on each side of the window, to pull the curtains away from direct sunlight every once in a while. Darker colours fade more than light colours.

The curtains are made from a mix of medium weight and light weight materials. They let in lots of light, while giving a sense of privacy. If you are drawn to the darker curtains, but are afraid it will be too dark, don’t worry, they still let in lots of light, but diffuse it poetically with their darker tones. Vice versa - don’t expect the darker curtains to be covering and aiding in a dark room. This is not what they are designed for.
